What are the main problems? Waste water pollution, destruction of the coral reefs, the dead of seaturtles and different species in the rain forest, littering, overuse of insecticides... Reasons for these environmental problems are... ... missing consciousness for the environment - often people don't relalize the connections between... ... polluted water and sick fish for dinner... ... clearing of woods and landslides. And old traditions lead to certain problems: Turtles, iguanas and other rare animals are regarded as traditional nutrition resources. This leads to an acute danger of extinction for many species. But what can travellers do in Tobago? Be friendly to the environment! Be a good example! If you notice any problems... ... point it out in a friendly manner and not in a know-it-all way.
